Down to the Wire
The semester abroad is coming to an end and Im not sure how I feel about it yet. I know when I studied in Prague it took a few weeks after coming home to begin realize the full impact my experience had had on me. This time, though, its slightly different, I think it`ll be the same. In all Im amazed at everything we`ve done in the past 5 weeks! When I think back to Tokyo it seems like forever ago that we were there. At the same time it feels like we only just got here.
Last night was our going away party, hosted by KSU University. They were incredibly generous with all the food they provided. Tehy had sashimi, hot dogs, many kinds of tempura (fried food), salad, etc. I finally got some pizza!!! I had been craving pizza for the past 2 weeks but pizza is just not the same in Japan. It was good enough though! Afterward a bunch of us went out with a group of the Japanese students (all girls because they seem to be the most eager to hang out) to Karaoke – again!! That makes 7 times goign to Karaoke in japan and 9 times in my lifetime. Karaoke being popular in Japan is not a myth!
Yesterday we visited a black smiths shop, one of the few places still existing in Japan where hand made tools are still crafted. It happened to be in Fukuoka! The owner of the shop (and the only worker) is the same guy who crafted the sword used by Orlando Bloom in the Pirates of the Caribean movies!!
